for the rest of your weekend plans. >> thank you, topper. >>> well, virginia is issuing a rising number of concealed weapon permits. they are going to folks who live in other states. this week alone, they saw a surge in request from 50 to 1,000. none of those folks will have to fire a gun to get those permits. as peggy fox reports, that could be the reason behind the surge. >> reporter: before you can buy a gun from sharpshooters in virginia, you've got to know how to use it. >> you need to know how to shoot them, in order to either buy a gun, or carry and conceal. >> reporter: but that's not what the state of virginia says. there is nothing that requires you to know how to fire or even hold the gun before receiving a virginia concealed weapons permit. for thanks to a 2009 law pushed by the then state senator and now attorney general, gun classes can be taken online. this course costs just $39. it targets residence in those states, which have permits with virginia. >> to get your concealed handgun license issued by the state of virginia, you heard me right, virginia. >> reporter:
